You may want to clone an asset in Reftab if you’re adding many of the same items with the same field data. By cloning an asset, you save time by not having to manually type in data that another asset already has. For example, if you’re creating 10 new MacBook Pros in Reftab, you may have a baseline MacBook Pro asset and clone it and only change the serial number but keep all the other data the same such as RAM, Vendor, HDD, etc. etc..
To clone an asset, first go to an asset and then, click “Clone Asset”
The new asset screen will populate with all the same data except for the asset ID. You will need to supply a new asset ID and any field that cannot be duplicated (for example, serial number).
Click “Save Asset” when done.
