Can Reftab Track Installed Software?

Yes, by setting up the Jamf or Intune integrations, Reftab can track installed software. When viewing an asset, you can click the tab labeled, “Licenses and Software“. A table will appear showing installed software on the machine. Reftab uses AI to place each found software into a category, this not only makes it easier to read, but helps understand cost and usage by type. The system will constantly check against CVE, short for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures – a list of publicly disclosed computer security flaws. If a vulnerability is found, you’ll see it highlighted. You can click on the vulnerability notice and a pop-up will display showing more details.

It is very simple and straightforward to setup installed software tracking. Follow the below steps:

  1. You must have a Reftab account on the Business plan (or an account on a free trail).
  2. Next, setup the integration with Jamf or Intune
  3. Next, after assets have been added, view an asset such as a laptop and click the tab, “Licenses and Software

The table will show all found applications and will sort by vulnerability count.

Click on the red button to display additional details.

If vulnerabilities are found and the application is subsequently updated, Reftab will update the application list the next time a sync occurs to show the new version number of the application. Reftab will then perform another search for any known CVEs.
